About

Megan S. Goddard is the Founding and Managing Partner of Goddard Law PLLC, a plaintiff-side employment law and sexual assault firm she built from the ground up in 2017. Megan feels strongly that holding bad actors accountable is the key to creating a more equitable and just society.

What drove Megan to start her own firm continues to define her practice today: a deep conviction that employees deserve an advocate who will stand up against powerful companies, bullies, and bad actors who believe they can discriminate or retaliate without consequence. Goddard Law was built on that conviction: a firm defined by fearless, high-caliber advocacy for employees.

The results speak for themselves. The firm has secured multi-million dollar jury verdicts, including a landma$13.4 million. The New York legal community took notice. Goddard Law quickly distinguished itself as a formidable force—one that employers could not afford to ignore.

But for Megan, the measure of success has always been what her clients think. “Her commitment to women’s rights is part of her heart and soul.” Clients consistently describe feeling heard, supported, and empowered — often for the first time after facing discrimination or retaliation at work. As one put it simply: “I never thought people — especially lawyers — could be so kind.” And as another client in a whistleblower case described: “Megan had the vision to see where I had been wronged, the fortitude to go toe-to-toe against formidable attorneys and come out ahead — and in the end, won my family a settlement worth 10 times the initial offer.”

With more than 20 years of litigation experience, Megan represents employees in matters involving discrimination, sexual harassment, unequal pay, retaliation, wrongful termination, whistleblower claims, and other labor law violations. Her clients span industries including technology, finance, healthcare, education, transportation, and retail. She is known for taking on even the most challenging cases and leveling the playing field so that her clients can stand on equal footing against even the most powerful employers. “Other law firms were hesitant to take on my former employer,” recalled one client. “Megan took an exceptionally precise approach to my claim… Her tenacity and willingness to represent me against a large corporation resulted in settlement.” Another added: “I approached over 12 attorneys, all of which rejected my case. One call to Megan was all it took.”

Megan has been widely recognized for her work. She has been named to Forbes’ America’s Best-In-State Lawyers list and ranked among Forbes’ America’s Top 200 Lawyers (2024). She is recognized by Chambers USA as a leading employment lawyer and was named a Distinguished Leader in Law by the New York Law Journal. Her trial successes have earned Top 50 and Top 100 Jury Verdict honors in New York State. She has also been selected to the Super Lawyers list for Employment Litigation every year from 2020 through 2025 and holds a top Avvo rating, along with multiple Clients’ Choice Awards.

An active leader in the legal community, Megan is a member and former Executive Board member of NELA/NY, and a member of the New York State and New York City Bar Associations. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, where she served on the Tulane Law Review, and her B.A. from the University of Missouri.

Outside the courtroom, Megan is committed to giving back, and has a long history of volunteering with organizations including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, iMentor, Operation Santa Claus, and the Cure Huntington’s Disease Initiative Foundation.
