About
Clela Errington is a Senior Associate at Goddard Law. Clela Errington is a career plaintiff’s attorney who represents workers in matters involving discrimination, retaliation, and wage-and-hour violations. She has devoted her career to protecting vulnerable workers and recovering unpaid wages. Her work is grounded in the belief that every person is entitled to be treated with respect, paid fairly, and heard when they speak up.
Before attending law school at New York University School of Law, Clela worked as a legal assistant in Chicago, helping tenants facing eviction and other housing-related disputes. In that role, she helped tenants understand their rights while faced with making high-stakes decisions in a court system many were navigating for the first time. That early experience shaped her approach to client service: grounded in a commitment to meeting clients where they are.
During and after law school, Clela worked with immigrant workers in wage theft matters, helping clients pursue unpaid wages, overtime, and other compensation they were legally owed. Many of her clients were navigating an unfamiliar legal system for the first time, often in a second or third language, and with understandable hesitation about asserting their rights. Clela worked to ensure that her clients not only had strong legal representation, but also a clear understanding of the process and confidence in the decisions they were making.
Clela approaches each case with the understanding that workplace problems are multifaceted, involving overlapping legal, financial, and personal concerns. She works closely with her clients to develop strategies tailored to their individual goals, risk tolerance, and circumstances. Whether pursuing claims through litigation or seeking an efficient resolution, she prioritizes communication and makes sure her clients understand not only what is happening in their case, but why.
Her practice includes all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigation through motion practice and discovery, in both state and federal courts. She has handled claims under federal, state, and local laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the New York Labor Law, Title VII, and the New York State and City Human Rights Laws.
Clela received her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Chicago.
